Honda Hoot 08

The Honda Hoot is known to the motorcycle community as the best rally.  For 2008 this was no exception.  The Honda hoot attendance was down due to the economy and the weather.

We signed up for two events. The Cumberland Gap ride and the poker run to benefit Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  Both of these events were spectacular in scenery, the roads chosen, the friends made, and spectacular job for volunteers did to make them successful.

The closing ceremonies included a concert by Wynonna Judd and the grand prize drawing was given to a lucky event attendee that won an all expenses paid trip to Japan for the Grand Prix and a visit to Honda's Collection Hall Museum, all with VIP treatment.  I particularly liked the fact that this prize was something that could not be brought, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Honda Red Riders Club.

There were numerous events to attend and vendors to purchase from all of which are well covered by the great volunteer staff of the Hoot.  There is one item however in Knoxville that seems to have been overlooked.  At 1209 North Central Street is The Time Warp Tearoom.  Here you will find Knoxville's greatest motorcycle attraction with many old race motorcycles and magazines that are on the tables for you to read.  Even the wallpaper is old Cycle News pages.  There is coffee lactase other assorted drinks and a small food menu.  Many evenings close to the weekend include a live band.  The young lady attending the counter, when we visited, stated there was a BOB policy, for those nights.  This is a must see when visiting Knoxville for the Hoot or any reason.  Motorcycle parking is cool on the front sidewalk.  Enjoy.

Hope to give you a wave from the oncoming lane.
